@KarenEngSwallows … Perhaps you are the real Mary-Lou and what you did for him inspired his ‘I’ve got a feeling’, after which he felt a ‘Poor Little Fool’ and went on top become a ‘Travellin’ man’, finally returning to attend a ‘Garden Party’ before realising it was way past his bedtime and saying ‘It’s Late’…..I’ve gotta get on home….and there you were waiting for him again. Yep; kind of adds up now
@penny539 I must rebuke you for your shameless assignation of Pagalley who made a genuine and emotional gesture of appreciation. Even though I’m British (So that I must allow for your American lack of intellect/culture) I can see where Pagalley is coming from. Indeed, You no longer feel the the boundaries of the song, you cannot remember how it is composed and what its name is. How bizarre, how bizarre. From my ‘gallery’….you are the IDIOT and Pagalley is simply….nice.
This song has a sad beauty to it..It’s strange how so many brilliant singers have died at young ages..John Lennon, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Karen Carpenter, Rick Nelson, Bob Marley, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, Freddie Mercury and Jimi Hendrix…I could say they were here for a reason and they left when they did what they were supposed to do..I could also say that they made bad choices which led to their deaths..Whatever the reason or reasons, they’re no longer, but their brilliant music lives on.
I was truly blessed to meet David and Ricky on the set of “Ozzie and Harriet.” I was 12 years old and thanks to Ricky’s fan club president, Connie Mueller, who was also Ozzie’s assistant, I was able to interview the two brothers for my elementary school paper. I saw Ricky later–when he recorded his ‘live’ album at The Troubador in Hollywood around ’70 or so. He was an original. I was managing The Beach Boys at the time & I’ve been blessed to have known & worked with many of my heroes.
3:33 video: “Garden Party” is a 1972 hit song for Rick Nelson (May 8, 1940 – December 31, 1985) and the Stone Canyon Band from the album Garden Party. Video from concert in August of 1985.
i agree twof811 Rick was never given the credit he deserved and to die in such a tragic way was terrible. I suppose the comparisons with Elvis were inevitable but the fact was that they were never rivals but in reality were good friends who hung out together. I never saw Rick perform but i have a lot of his stuff which i play a lot. It still sounds good today . God bless you Rick youwere a true star.
One of the most handsome performers to come out of the states. His singing needs no comment – just so perfect, especially the slow numbers. Sadly missed by many of us.
Gosh , such a long time since anything excellent came out of Iceland! ….. since 1983 and the wonderful Mezzoforte , only two natural disasters … an ash plume and Bjork ………..

Why tarnish his memory with such trashy information?

@KarenEngSwallows That must have been quite an honour for him. Bet he had tons of others in between though.
@brism32 I gave Ricky Nelson his first and last blowjob!
@64TR4 Never heard of him, but I’ll check out some of his music…Thanks.
@pagalley1
Don’t forget about one of my favorites, Jim Croce. Poetry put to music. The one-time Malvern Prep and Villanova
classico, died way too young.
@twolf811
Ricky Nelson has been unjustly underrated. Nelson was a first-rate rock singer!

Words to live by, because you CAN’T please everyone and life’s too short to waste trying to. Thanks, Rick…
